Online Therapy for Gen Z and Millennials in NY
Life can be heavy sometimes.
If you’re feeling overwhelmed or uncertain, stuck or unsure, or struggling with life’s transitions, I can help.
Trauma, big or small, often shapes the stories we tell ourselves and the way we move through the world. My goal is to help you rewrite those narratives, to guide you toward a version of yourself that feels confident, capable, and at peace.
It’s not about making everything perfect—it’s about getting the insights and tools to navigate life’s mess with more self-acceptance, confidence, and self-compassion.
Hi, I’m Florrie Barron, LCSW (she/her).
I offer personalized, 1:1 virtual therapy for adults in their 20s and 30s in New York who are navigating life’s transitions—career changes, city moves, relationship shifts, identity explorations.
In a safe, supportive environment, you’ll have the space to explore your thoughts, emotions, and behaviors, while gaining practical tools to navigate life’s ups and downs with greater clarity and confidence.
I’m here to support you as you grow, heal, and get clear.
My approach to therapy
I believe in making a real, human connection with each person I work with. My approach is person centred, so I work with you to meet your needs, goals and preferences. I see you as the expert in your own life and my role is to listen, understand and guide you through your growth and healing.
I also take a relational and psychodynamic approach, which means I focus on the relationship we build together and how your past experiences are shaping your current feelings and behaviours. I believe that understanding the connections between your past and present can be very healing, and often therapy can help uncover patterns that are impacting your life.
While I do look at past experiences, I want to be clear that therapy isn’t just about looking back. It’s about using our understanding of our past to create positive change in your present and future. We’ll work on practical tools to manage challenges, build resilience and help you feel more in control of your life.

How I work with my clients
My style is collaborative and down to earth. I’ll be real with you and offer insights and support, while also creating space for you to be yourself, laugh, connect, have light-hearted conversations when it feels right, and explore difficult emotions without fear of judgment.
Therapy is a process, and while I’ll always challenge you, I also want it to feel comfortable, empowering and supportive. I’m all about keeping things grounded and approachable, so therapy feels less intimidating and more like a space where you can truly be yourself.
What sets me apart as a therapist is that I’m genuinely myself in our sessions. Clients often tell me I feel like a dear friend—but I always keep clear boundaries so you get the support you need without compromising the professionalism of our work together. Therapy doesn’t always have to be heavy—it’s about being human, and I believe in making space for that.

Individual therapy is a personal and confidential space where we work one-on-one to explore your thoughts, emotions, and behaviors. We’ll dive into your unique challenges, whether it’s anxiety, relationship stress, or deeper emotional concerns, and work together on developing tools and strategies to help you navigate life’s ups and downs. Through person-centered therapy and relational therapy, I tailor our sessions to meet your needs and support your personal growth.

If you’re unsure, that’s totally normal! Therapy is a personal journey, and it’s okay if you’re not sure what to expect or if it’s the right step for you.
We’ll start by having an open conversation about what’s going on in your life—whether it’s stress, anxiety, relationship issues, or identity questions—and talk through how therapy could support you.
You’ll have a chance to share what’s been weighing on you, and I’ll help guide you through the process. There’s no pressure—just a conversation to see if therapy feels like a good fit for where you’re at.

Choosing the right therapist is important, and it’s great that you’re thinking about what feels like a good fit.
It’s helpful to look for someone who makes you feel comfortable, understood, and respected. In our initial consultation, you’ll get a sense of whether my approach feels right for you.
We can talk about what you’re hoping to work on, and you can ask any questions you have about how I work. Trust your instincts—if it feels like the right space for you, that’s a good sign!
-
I recommend weekly sessions to start, especially if you’re working through something significant or need consistency. However, we can also adjust the frequency as things progress.
-
Nope! You don’t need to have a clear “problem” or diagnosis to begin therapy. People come to therapy for all kinds of reasons, from big life changes (like a career shift or relationship changes) to feeling disconnected from yourself or your sexuality.
The point is you’re looking to understand yourself better and create positive change. I’m here to help you do that, wherever you’re at.
-
In our first session, we’ll talk about what brought you to therapy and what you’re hoping to work on. It’s a chance for me to get to know you and for you to get a sense of how I work.
It’s very much a conversation, not an interrogation. We’ll discuss your goals, and I’ll explain how I approach therapy to make sure it feels like a good fit for you.
-
Yes, everything we talk about in therapy is confidential, with very few exceptions. I take your privacy and safety seriously, and confidentiality is key to creating a space where you can feel comfortable and open.
The only situations where confidentiality may be broken are if there’s risk of harm to yourself or others, or if required by law.
-
Yes, I am in-network with Aetna, Cigna, and Optum. If you have one of these plans, your sessions may be covered depending on your benefits.
If I’m out-of-network for your insurance provider, that’s not a problem! I can still see you, and I’ll provide you with a superbill—a detailed receipt that you can submit to your insurance for reimbursement, depending on your plan.
If you’re unsure about your insurance coverage, I’m happy to help you navigate that process!
